sugarpill black capsule palette review

IMG_2987So I ordered this on World Goth day, and I finally decided it was time to add another Capsule palette to my collection. I have the first two , the  Pink Edition and the  Orange Edition. I do use both quite often, with the big blushes in the middle being my favorite. The pink has a nice 80’s pink and the orange has a really pretty peach. Plus I do like Sugarpill shadows , I also have the SugarPill Funsized palette thaat I’ve used a lot for pastels. It’s an interesting formula that blends pretty easy , not quite as pigmented as Juvia’s but still buildable.

IMG_2989Also I love the design of the palettes, I know some plastic palettes can be flimsy , but these are actually pretty well made , plus the pans are oriented to look like molecules. It really keeps in line with Sugarpill’s theme and it’s pretty unique.

IMG_2996The back has the names printed on which is actually kind of nice . It’s funny even though it’s the Black Capsule , there’s not really any Black shades , just grungier kind of witchy colors . I like that the colors are way different than the other 2 palettes . The green and olive really interested me . As well the orange , and blue shimmers . Plus Superstitious looks like a nice watermelon shade for the cheeks.

IMG_3001These shimmers are really nice ! Plus ooh look at that pink shimmer too !

IMG_3002Here’s another look at the palette , and it has a nice little mirror too .

And here are the swatches on my skin . Again I just swatch on bare skin to see how they look , a few shades like the olive and the grungy green needed to be built up , but I’m really liking the blue duochrome and the more purple based one as well . The pink and orange are pretty fun too . I do think that the orchid pink matte and purple matte look a little similar but it’s okay . Still a nice color story .

From further away and low light the shimmers really stand out . Specifically Ritual and Hex .

And now for the eye looks !

Rainbow Sherbet

IMG_3689So I had the idea to use both the grungy lime green and the olive shade . I wanted to do kind of a halo , but also do some unconventional colors. I was considering using Ritual but instead wanted to try Firestarter ( the orange shimmer). It’s a really pretty color but this shimmer was bit dry. It does need glitter glue or a sticky base to really stay on. The mattes were also a bit dry and I had to keep applying both Oogie and Grimm. I did use Nyx jumbo liner in Milk to have a nice white and tacky base so the colors would pop more. They’re a little more subdued that I ws expecting. So I wanted to add Psycho Candy and Superstitous to my brow bone. Then I used a sandy neutral shade from the Culture 2 to seperate the colors and blend them out.

IMG_3691I’ve been using the Culture 2 palette for a while so , having a more diffused almost pastel look was kind of cool but unexpected .

Plus I decided I wanted to use Superstitous as a blush too . I had actually added to much so I wet a blender to diffuse it and added a highlighter on top.

IMG_3763

IMG_3771I really liked it . I think I may have went overboard blending it out though. maybe I should try a more blush heavy look next time , as it is a really nice color and adds a nice summer blush too my cheeks.

And a Neon look !

IMG_3817I know I do this combo alot , but the bright fuchsia, Gloomy , then tried to add Coven ( the purple) . It wasn’t quite deep enough for my V though. So O blended Purgatory and I wanted the middle shade to really pop. So I chose Ritual , while Hex is on my lower lid. I did a similar look before but Hex was my main shade and Psycho Candy on the lower lid. I do think Ritual is more sparkly and catches the eye more . I’m still thinking of a way to show of hex.

and finally I decided I wanted more blush on my cheeks , So I used Superstitious , and just barely blended .

And for my final look ! I wanted to do sort of a halo look . I used coven , patted it in and later blended it out with a fluffy brush . Packing it in and then buffing out with another brush seemed to be the best way to use these shadows rather than just placing them and trying to blend out with the same brush . Afterwards I used Purgatory and blended that out in my V . Added some glitter glue and placed Hex on my V and my inner corner , and Psycho Candy in the middle .
IMG_4095And to be a bit extra I added Fenty Matchstick in Unicorn on my brow bone .

IMG_4096

I do feel like this formula creases a bit more than the other two capsules . I’m not sure why it’s dryer , but I did use glitter glue , a white base , and setting spray . But it’s also been kind of humid in my area lately .

IMG_4107And finally got around to bleaching my hair . I tried to tone out some the light blonde pieces , but the Punky blue and purple 3-in -one shampoo plus conditioner is still quite potent. Plus some Limecrime powder on the fringe .

IMG_4113While I do like the colors and the shimmers , it’s a bit on the dry side compared to my other Sugarpill shadows . But they’re nice and having the bright blush is always a plus . Overall , I do like the color story and I can mix and match with my other capsule palettes. Let me know what you think ! Have a great week everyone !
