So when Urban Decay sent out the Naked Metal Mania palette , they also sent some Primer Potion as well . It was pretty neat as I haven’t used it in quite some time. The last time I bought this was when I first ordered the Urban Decay Electric palette. Before then I had originally been using Too Faced Shadow Insurance and the now probably discontinued Too Faced Glitter Glue. Now flash forward to the present day it’s time to see if it’s the same formula.

IMG_5032 I believe my original one which I have thrown away ages ago, came in a clear plastic case with primer proudly displayed.

pretty much a similar tube.

IMG_5035But wait I don’t remember there being a wand? Maybe that’s new and pretty useful.

Well the consistency is the same , still pretty tacky does dry down pretty quickly though so it’s a good idea to lay your shadows down before it dries. Or at least that’s my experience with using glittery shimmers.  I had to reapply after I was done blending my mattes that way the shimmer would stay on , otherwise I had a bit of fallout on my cheeks. But my shadows did stay for most of the day. Although it does still kind of smear if your eyes water sadly. I was watching Baki Hanma Son of Ogre and I got a little too into the show , so my eyes watered a bit, and some of my eye makeup smudged.  Also while this primer is still a really good choice , I do kind of prefer how much brighter my shadows are with the Nyx Jumbo Milk liner.  I know it’s crazy I would prefer a simple pencil better as a primer , but I just think it does a better job of showing off brights and keeping my shadow in place. Also that Nyx glitter glue is still godly. So it’s all up to preference , but this is still a good product especially if you want a good base for your shadows and maybe you like a more muted look. It’s nice to have options.

Now for the looks :

IMG_5167This was one of my better Metal Mania looks and I pretty much got these to stick rather well. I do think the Urban Decay metallics may be a different consitency than the Beauty Bay shimmer I used in my next look.

IMG_5386Here’s a look of the palettes used. I wanted to do a variety of brands and these were the first three that came to mind. I sometimes do this where I’ll think for example I want a purple and silver smokey look. And then go yes there’s a silvery white in Retro Love, a nice lavender in Bird of Paradise, and some neutrals and black in Chocolate Bon Bon’s . Plus its a good variety of textures and consistencies.

IMG_5394This eye had a small patch where the shimmer wouldn’t cover. I think because this was a drier consistency and the primer had dried down , it was just harder to cover. So I had to go back and apply more primer potion . But the lavender from Makeup revolution showed and blended out really nice, I added bit of the pastel lilac from Retro Love, some of the neutrals for my brow bone from Chocolate Bon Bons, and that grey black is also from the same Too Faced palette.

IMG_5395This eye came out better since I now knew to apply more primer potion to my lid to get the shimmer to stick. I think this eye looks better.

Only downside is watery eyes later in the day when I watching Baki. So keep that in mind if you have watery eyes.

IMG_5458And I decied to lets have the lips match the eyes ! So smokey lips too.

IMG_5478Also my hair is turning the color I want ! Silvery powder blue ! Yay!  Well I think this is a good primer , and it’s still has it’s place in a makeup bag. I would like to buy another Too Faced Shadow Insurance to compare it with the other primers I have. And I believe Glamlite and Juvia’s Place also have Primers of their own too. So Maybe I’ll just buy a ton of primers and compare. I have all the shadows , so let’s test these out. Let me know what you think and what your favorite eye primer is .
