*The product in this post was sent to me for free from Influenster and Redken in exchange for my honest review.
Hey everyone ! I actually meant to write this review up sooner as I posted reviews for these products on both my instagram and my tiktok. But I seemed to have spaced the actual blog. So here it is ! I’m doing each product seperately , but today I’m focusing on the Acidic Bonding Concentrate Intensive Treatement. I wrote some intitial thoughts in my Vox Box preview and I wasn’t super impressed with this stuff. I believe this is meant to be a competitor to Olaplex, which I still haven’t tried yet but have heard alot of praise . It’s designed to help bond damaged ( bleach or color damaged ) hair and make the hair stronger. It also has an Alpha Hydroxy , which can lead to some sun sensitivity on the scalp. I actually was a bit worried about that so I only used this product on my ends. I live in a pretty sunny area so it’s best not to make my scalp susceptible to more sun damage . But also when in doubt wear a hat .I really reccomend hat wearing for freshly bleached hair in the summer. Now for how this product actually worked.
For directions : You apply this while showering to wet hair , leave in for 5 – 10 minurtes and rinse , then apply the shampoo. They didn’t send the Acidic Bonding shampoo so I used my usual whole blends coconut shampoo along with conditioner. afterwards I followed up with the leave in conditoner (review coming soon).
So supposedly this stuff conditions, I didn’t have any conditoning from this with my hair. In fact it made my hair feel very dry and more damaged than when I bleached it. Okay so not really a good thing. As for making my hair stronger ? It made my hair break off on the ends. I later had to trim some ends to stop it from breaking off. I used this for like a week and a half. It does say it’s color safe which I guess that is truish. I was fading out my blue , by just normal methods of shampooing and warmer water. For color preservation I usually cover my hair with a shower cap and rinse in cold water. But whatever I did when I used this product my hair was so dry. I would try extra conditioner and , the leave in conditioner that came in the box and even the Marc Anthony leave in conditioner. I stopped using it for a week and my hair started to feel normal , but I still had to use the Marc Anthony leave in conditioner and baby my ends , since they were still really dry. It’s gotten a little better since I re dyed my hair witha very conditioning dye. I was going to give this product a meh review , but then my Fiance tried it one night in his hair ( it’s fairly long) and he had breakage really bad on his length. He was not happy. Plus I as pretty sad too, I decided against letting his little sister try it as this just seems to be a horrible product. I mean my fiance has never dyed or bleached his hair and he had severe breakage . I think they really need to reformulate this product or try something else. It really doesn’t work and seems to cause more damage.
Well that’s it for now let me know what you think and if you’ve tried products like Olaplex or Redken? What was your experiance like?
