Hey everyone ! It’s time for a tech review ! I was able to get my hands on a 7th gen iPad mini, I have the older iPad mini’s and definitely needed an upgrade . Now my main reason for upgrading was to have a nice little gaming device that’s bigger than my current iphone . I have both Zenless Zone Zero and Genshin Impact and I wanted to be able to play these on an ipad , since my other ipad’s are way too old . The other main reason is to have a nice bloggin machine that’s mobile , bigger than my iphone but smaller than the computer , plus watching movies and videos . with that in mind let’s check out the iPad Mini 7.
I’m glad this year waasn’t the last for the charging block like it was for the iPhone’s. We all may have charging blocks but that doesn’t mean that we all should use those old outdated charging blocks because it wasn’t until a few years ago that Apple let us use authorized third party charging blocks. They used to invalidate warranty if you used third party charging blocks or cables.
I really like how sleek these are and the color is a really ncie icy blue.
It’s a pretty cute little device .
And now here is the general run down of the issues I ran into.
For the battery and operability of the iPad mini 7 , it gets hot just downloading apps . It used 34% battery life in one hour , and for the record all Siri intergrations were shut down. All background refresh permissions were turned off, all stacks and widgets were removed . As well as anything that would use CPU was turned off.
As for the audio it was boomy , yet very dull and lifeless with no variable fidelity from the two speakers. When playing certain frequencies there are tears and it sounds horrible. I compared it to my older model ipads such as my ipad mini , ipad mini 4 and the speakers sounds the same as even the older ipad mini 2. Which was very disappointing . The iPhone’s all have better audio including the iphone 12 mini of mine and up along side my 13 and 14 pro max , this is unacceptable. Do you remember those birthday and holiday cards that would sing to you when you would open them up? That is the equivalent to how the iPad sounded .
Graphically it is equal to my cute iphone 12 mini . I tested both and put the settings on both devices , the iPad should arguably have better thermal radiance and expell excess heat through it’s large shell. But unlike Pro model iPads , it overheats and gets excessively hot. An iPad should not generally exceed 95 degrees with normal use, and what’s even more surprising was the iPhone 12 mini played exactly the same as the iPad mini 7.

This was super disappointing for me , as the gameplay was very glitchy and the iPad was pretty hot with just testing the games out. As for any other games , I would be very skeptical with how they would run. And my question I would like to ask is why are these on sale a week after being released? Overall it’s cute but I wish it was a little more powerful and wasn’t so glitchy playing games . It’s probably fine just to use for web browsing and book reader, but it doesn’t really work for games or movies .And they definitely need to upgrade the audio for these iPad mini’s.
