la roche-posay anthelios uv hydra review

Hey everyone ! I have more products to review and today’s focus will be the 50 SPF Anthelios UV Hyrda sunscreen by La Roche Posay. This is probably my third product by La Roche Posay ( I had a small sample of one of their skin prebiotics and the  Duo Acne Spot Treatment).   And this is my second facial suncreen too , my last one was  the Banana Boat SPF 50+ Face Lotion. I wasn’t a huge fan of that one as it really made my face look way too wet . Not a good look when you’re out and about in the city doing errands.

So how does this one perform?

Well I tried it twice bare faced , and I was still not a fan. It does have some really nice moisturizing qualities , the hyaluronic acid for plumping skin, and it’s pretty lightweight. There’s not really a fragrance , just a slight lotiony scent. But it does give skin a dewy texture , which is not my favorite especially with my hormonal acne skin . 

Not loving this . But I did read on La Roche Posay’s website that you can use this as a primer and wear makeup over this . And while the Banana Boat face lotion was definitely too oily and greasy to use under makeup. I’m willing to give this a try . I do like the moisturizing qualities of this sunscreen lotion.

For this test run I decided to use a more matte foundation formula ( I don’t think my skin tints would do will with this formula as alot of them or dewy , but more of a dewy I can handle).  So Beauty Blender Bounce foundation it is ! along with the beauty blender concealer too.

And it didn’t look bad honestly, it added a bit of a dewy look to the normally matte beauty blender foundation and made it look a bit more fresh. And while I liked this , I kind of wanted to reduce the shine a bit more and make sure my makeup wouldn’t just slide off . Like I’m not even sure if it really would (maybe in the summer heat, I’ll definitely have to test that),but let’s add some setting powder.

It’s not bad under makeup . I was quite surprised to be honest. It makes me want to test this lotion out with just powder foundation too. 

Overall it’s a pretty good product and would probably work really well for someone with dry skin. I have oily , acne scarred skin so I’m a bit more self concious just wearing sunscreen and nothing else on my face . But with a bit of makeup on top it’s doable .It’s pretty good at hydrating and moisturizing my face too . Now for a future post I would really like to try out the Starface Clear as Day sunscreen gel for acne prone skin . I’ve heard good things about it from a friend and online.
