maybelline lifter gloss in toffee review

*This product was sent out to me by Maybelline in exchange for my honest review.

And finally part three of my Maybelline box ! It was really cool to be sent all these and a big thanks to Maybelline . Now it’s actually time for my favorite product in the whole set. The Lifter Gloss . It’s again another oil/gloss hybid similar to Nyx’s fat oil lip drip or even the Lancome Juicy Treat lip gloss .

And while it’s yet another nude shade this one has the added bonus of reminding me of the Lip smacker’s Sponge on Layered Cake lip gloss with the beads in the cap. I know it’s super specific and definitely obscure , But I had chocolate one and it smelled exactly like this new lifter gloss.

Also if you want to read a great nostolgia lip gloss post check out this blog I’ve found. They review so many old Lip Smackers products , it’s honestly kind of impressive, as the original lip smackers and Bon Bell products have been discontinued and also resold. So some of these are pretty much lost . I mean I could buy one of those unopened on Mecari or ebay but it will cost me $100 , which I’m not sure if I want to start collecting vintage y2k makeup. It’s an interesting hobby but I already have my main makeup hobby finding new things as well.  Well at least I have the Chocolatey Maybelline Lifter Gloss to remind me of the Brownie Cheesecake of The Sponged on Layered Cake line. It just needs those nice little beads in the cap so I can shake it.

It’s a bit like a jelly oil hybrid and it’s a nice Toffee shade . It does look very natural on my lips  and also moisturizes really well. i would say this is one of the better lip gloss/ oil hybrids . I ended up liking it a bit more than the Lancome Juicy Treat gloss that I reviewed earlier. But it could be the Lip Smackers cake smell that’s really giving me a bias.

It does just kind of blend into my lips , but at least it makes them shiny.

And here it is on a full face pic. Overall I really liked this gloss and hope they can make some more interesting colors as well. Maybe expand out of the nudes and into some more unconventual shades as well. Like lets have some bright pinks, oranges , a lavender or lilac , even a more greyed out shade would be nice .  I did check online and they do have one berry shade and darker chocolate brown which are both colors I would be willing to pick up. Hopefully they all smell like the chocolate cake.  Well let me know what you think of this gloss line and if you have tried it before? Also before I forget this gloss is supposed to plump lips but I think it just moistuized more than anything. Also no stinging sensation so this is a pretty safe plumping gloss/oil. Well I’ll be most more soon.

  1. I heard the lifter glosses were plumping, which is why I never tried them. If they don’t do much and don’t tingle, perhaps I could give one a try someday (after my lip product lowbuy ends).

  2. The gloss is a pretty and natural shade on you. And I also really liked the lip smacker glosses as a kid. That is so nostalgic. The lip smackers blog you shared is gold. I love a good makeup throw back. 🙂

      1. Yes, it’s great. Lip Smackers needs to be brought back. They are classics, Like I always say they were an eight year old’s “purse” staple in the early 00s. 😂 If you didn’t have a Lip Smacker’s Chapstick who were you? lol

      2. Ooh blue clear purse ! Yes! That sounds so amazing. There ‘s a shop I follow on IG that sells these cute clear purses that are filled with liquid and little squishy fish . They’re called Electric Bubblegum and they have some really cool bags . I may one day get one , they’re too cool .

  3. The shade is lovely and really blends in well with your natural lip colour.

I didn’t know y2k make-up collecting is a thing. I buy too much make-up, hair and body stuff as it is already. Half the stuff in my stash could be called vintage. 😀
