IMG_0308So this was kind of an unexpected surprise ! A blowout brush by Sutra Beauty , I’ve never used one of these before so bear with me as I go over a few things. I did watch a few videos from stylists and also read some how to’s as well. I was also concerned about heat damage with my bleached and colored hair.  So let’s check out the packaging first .

It’s a pretty sturdy box that has like a magnetic closure .

IMG_0310Just part of the box explaining the three heat settings and while it says it’s safe for all hair types I would like to again caution to those who have color treated , bleached or even very tight coiled hair . The heat settings on here get really hot ! like I was a little sacred when I first used it . I had it on the second heat setting and it felt pretty warm so I turbed it to just air dry.

IMG_0316I do like that it has kind of velvety or felt like casing to store the brush . it looks nice and feels nice. Also the handle is really nice and has a good weight to it as well.

IMG_0317So before actually using the blowout brush , I looked online and watched some vidoes for techniques . And I found out conflicting info as well, some say to dry your hair (towel dry) like 70 percent of the way, and then use the blow dry brush. While another youtube stylist said to apply to the kind of wet hair , obviously a little towel dried , but still kind of wet, their reasoning was that the brush already takes so much moisture out of your hair that it , that using it over mostly dried hair would damage it and cause breakage. I’m really not sure though as extremely wet hair can also be prone to being damaged especially if your hair is bleached or dyed . Which mine is , and while I can’t give too much advice about using a blow dry brush with extremely curly or textured hair I would still take caution when using something like this. Oh and you can also buy some heat protectant spray to kind of help stop damage . But I didn’t buy any products so I just used this on my hair wet and then another time more towel dried . And it did have a bit of a learning curve to it, there was a few times I got scared and  was afraid I would tangle my hair .  Also this takes a lot more time than my normal blow dry routine .

IMG_0855This was the last time I used it right before I dyed my hair . I feel like hair was abit more flat than my normal style , but I used it more to straighten my hair . I do think you can curl it but I didn’t really get the hang of it yet. Maybe next time and I can take a picture.  But for now I just blwo dry my hair and put it in a bun , that usually gives me the waves , that or braiding .

And now one of the other reasons i don’t use this blow dry brush that much is , it can be really damaging to your hair if you use it everyday . The blow dry brush gets way hotter than my everyday blow dryer . I usually only use low setting or cool setting when I blow dry hair normally , and I often leave it slightly damp so I can do the bun trick and get waves . But with this I feel like it drys my hair so fast , what takes the most time is sectioning my hair and sometimes detangling it . So honestly I don’t ue this everyday and I wouldn’t reccomend using it everyday either as it does get very hot, so if you do use it on the lower setting or just air dry .  I will still use this , but save it for special occasions , plus I do want to learn how to culr my hair with it as well.  Let me know what you think and if you have tried any other blowout brushes or have any recommendations for good heat protectants . have a great week !
