fenty beauty trace’d out pencil lip liner in coal blooded review

I was super excited for this one ! A Fenty box and while I’m sad they discontinued a few of my favorite lip products I can’t stay mad at Fenty as their products are usually high quality.  Plus this is a nice charcoal brown that looks a bit more black lip liner !

This will be my first lip liner from Fenty and while I’ve used lip liners from drugstore companies , this one is smooth ! like incredibly smooth and doesn’t smell like crayons or wax.

Here it is with no flash. It’s definitly a nice shade that could pair well with darker brown lip shades or even warmer grey or black shades. I have a warmer grey/black lipstick by Nyx that may pair really well with this . But I could also see using this with a clear lip gloss too or doing a nice dark to light lip look.

And now here’s the flash , you can see it’s more brown , but still dark enough to use witha warmer black lipstick, or a deep chocolate shade.

Also I’m debating on ordering the new Fenty Gloss Bomb in Major Flex, as it’s a shimmering multicolored smokey black . I could see that pairing really well with this lip liner.

And yes I write these things as I’m trying them , I did swatch before trying this pencil with other products . And gloss was definitely a no. I did manage to take some pictures with just a clear gloss , and sadly it didn’t work quite like I had in mind.  It works great as a lip liner but not so great if you try to fill your lips with just the pencil . 

It’s a bit smudgy and kind of patchy . But I do love this color .

and I finally put some dye in my hair . I was rocking grey and black , but I decided to add a bit of turquoise in my conditioner along with another blue to get this pastel aqua/turquoise shade . I do still need to retouch my roots , but that will be for another day .
Now let’s go with a standard clear gloss . I used a clear gloss by Rimmel on top . It didn’t work out as planned though .

The gloss made the pencil separate . Which is super unfortunate as I wanted the Fenty Shimmer black gloss to layer over this . I’m not sure it would  work though as this pencil doesn’t seem to play nice with gloss .  
Well at least it looks okay from afar . 

And now for the lipstick test . I used Nyx Haze ( which is a grey ) and the lip liner . I actually really liked this combo .

This is honestly my favorite way to wear it . I do wish I could use gloss over it too but after what happened last time . Maybe I’ll skip the gloss and just try a glossy black with another brand .
