Hi everyone ! My fiance surprised me with a nice dark blue lipstick . He knows me so well , I love lip colors and shades like this . I honestly need to restock on some of my more unusual colors , as they are kind of more niche and harder to find now . I think it’s the “Clean Girl ” look thats been trending so there’s more of emphasis on neutral or natural colors, but for me this can get kind of boring as I really do love purples , blue, greys, lavender , or black on my lips.

IMG_8911So when I took pics it does look more of a dark kind of navy blue . The tube is frosted , so it’s hard to see any of the shimmer that is in this one . It’s a metallic matte . Although it’s really not a traditional matte. On my lips it was more creamy adn did kind of streak. It also has kind of a nice vanilla scent , and reminds me of the Maybelline Stay matte ink lipsticks . I do really like those ones too but sadly they discontinued one of my favorite lavender shades . 

IMG_8914here it is with no flash , and it does look super dark , like way darker than in the tube. You can also see the nice shimmer or metallic look. 

IMG_8912Here it is with flash. Now you can see the nice blue tones , it does seem to have a black or grey base though, with a bit of the metallic sheen. Also this was a bit streaky as I had to keep swiping my arm with the wand. 

And as for wear time , it’s okay , not the best in my opinion. It’s a bit streaky and it will transfer when you drink or eat . ( I went out to mexican food when I took these face pictures. ) I do reccomend bringning this along with you to reapply , but the nice thing is that is wasn’t drying on my lips .

IMG_8920Close up , it still looks black or grey on my lips . I think I need more of the blue or white lightiing to really make it look blue , or just another blue lipstick under this one.

 

IMG_8928Also I thought it was nice to pair this lipstick with multichrome shadows from the Juvia’s Place Afrogalactic palette . I used two different multichrome shades on my lower and upper liner.  Also still got the pastel lavender/lilac hair , although I think I want to bleach my roots soon . I really want to try out like a turquoise , teal or tiffany blue color. Well let me know what you think . Have a great week!

You know, I love the idea of a cool toned/jewel toned lipstick, it looks great on you and on most people, but I have the darnedest time finding something that I can pull off–maybe you have recommendations? I have very pale neutral skin, fair haired. I find that most dark lip colors just look black on me (I can pull off a mean retro goth look in the winter) OR they tend to pull brown (Kat Von D lip products all look like I put chocolate on my lips). Have any ideas, Olive Unicorn?

    1. This is going to be long , sorry 😅
      My first thoughts would be Nyx liquid suede in the color Amethyst. It’s a very bright , yet deep jewel tone purple and it definitely looks purple on me , and some of my friends that wear it . Also Sugarpill has some really nice jewel tones as well. Nocturne ( which may be sold out is a pretty metallic spacy blue , Vertigo is deep greige purple with blue glitter , and I believe they also have a really pretty teal shade too . Sugarpill’s formula is really good for liquid lipsticks.
      Jeffree star , even though he’s a terrible person , his liquid lipstick formula is good as well , pretty much on par with Sugarpill . He has some bright neons , but I think he still has jewel tones as well. Blue Velvet comes to mind .
      Oh and back to Nyx , there’s the Shine Out Loud lipsticks in Ghost Pepper , which looks like a lovely blurple , and I did swatch Nyx’s Smooth Whip’s in store , the Teal , Blue and eggplant purple are really nice .
      And now for the sad discontinued products :
      fenty beauty had one of the prettiest blue lipsticks that was like a balm . It was called Go Deep and you may be lucky enough to find it online in some stores or mercari . My friend who is lighter than me wore it and definitely looked sapphire blue . I still my tube and I was sad when they discontinued it . too Faced also had a beautiful teal lip gloss that was called Blue me Away and you still may be able to find it on amazon .
      I do want to eventually try Menagerie makeup as they seem to have some really nice spacy , blue , purple , teal and green shades .
      I’ll mention Coloured Raine , but I honestly didn’t like how drying the formula was . Really pretty colors , but they dried my lips way too much to use everyday.
      I hope that helps , I’m hoping to try a few new brands out and find some new favorites this year even though I’ve been on low buy . Maybe I’ll make an exception for lipsticks 🦄
