native hair care in Blackberry & Green tea shampoo and conditioner set review

*This product was sent out to me by Influenster and Native in exchange for my honest review.

Hey everyone ! It’s finally time to wrap up some of my shampoo and conditioner reviews , and this latest set was sent out by Native. I’ve been curious about Native products and was happy to try out the blackberry and green tea strengthening set. The list of ingredients for these is very minimal and the packaging is really nice.

I’ll start with the shampoo , it’s got a great fresh blackberry tea scent , with a bit of a soapy note undereneath. I still really like the scent though.  But sadly it’s not the best shampoo, as it feels kind of oily and doesn’t really clean hair . Also my scalp and my fiance’s was a bit itchy afterwards . Not sure what that was about but I only use this shampoo maybe once a week .

The back is nice since it breaks down exactly what ingredients are in here , but still I’m not a fan of the formula . It’s just not the best when compared to other brands like Method , Garnier , or even the reformulated OGX shampoos. This shampo is just overly drying and maybe not the most color friendly .

Next up is the the conditioner.

The conditoner like the shampoo was also kind of a dud . It smells really nice but doesn’t really moisturize . It made my hair feel a bit oily and sort of dry, which is kind of the opposite of what you want in a conditioner. Like what a weird combinationm to be honest , my hair just didn’t feel clean or moisturized. Also while I was testing both products out I had actually toss both. I used both the shampoo and conditioner I started breaking out in hives on arms and basically anywhere the shampoo and conditioner touched.  It was pretty gross , so I would really use caution when using these products ; as I looked online and found a few others with this problem.

Overall , these smell really nice as did some of the other Native products I’ve smelled in store, that’s about the only good thing going for them.  I think anyone who experiences allergiers or contact dermatitis should steer clear of all Native products. I’m really not sure  what ingredient triggered it, it could’ve honestly been the fragrance that they use is too strong, but even my fiance was a bit itchy after using the shampoo. He didn’t get the hives or rash , but he basically said toss them, and so we did . Let me know in comments if you have had the same reaction to Native products or even if you like the shampoo in conditioner. I love hearing your thoughts .

  1. It’s cool how they list the ingredients and what they’re used for. Such a shame that both the conditioner and shampoo didn’t work out for you both. I’ve tried their deodorants before, but nothing else that they sell.

      1. I didn’t have a reaction with them. Some of the scents were quite weak, so they sounded nice in theory but weren’t as nice in person. The other thing is they lasted a decent amount of time for a natural brand, but still not quite enough for me. I ended up using Lume and preferring that one.

      2. Oh I haven’t heard of Lume , but I’ll have to look that up . Thanks for letting me know . I’m currently using Method , it’s been working well for me so far , but I like to have multiple options when one is harder to find . Like my beloved Tom’s coconut 😢 I can’t find it anywhere.

      3. Oof that always sucks when you love a product and then it gets discontinued or remains out of stock for ages. Especially something like deodorant where picking up something else as a temporary replacement might not be as good as what you’re used to.
