nyx buttermelt highlight in no 1 butta review

Hey everyone ! I was looking around Ulta and finally found the Nyx Buttermelt highlighers. I saw these in another server that I’m in and had my eye on both this beautiful lilac and a green highlighter as well. Well I decided to wait on the green even though I swatched it in there store. It was a true highlighter where this lilac is more of a topper . But that’s okay I couldn’t resist the y2k like packaging. And this shade of lilac, the holographic lettering, the beautiful swirls and the clear packaging is very y2k . I love it !

I also took multiple pictures before I opened the package , it does look different depending on the lighting`. Sometimes more lilac , and sometimes more silver.

and the sticker was kind of hard to peel off , so it took me a while .

But here we are ! I love the swirly sort of star like imprint too. This is  one of the nicest looking products that Nyx has released so far.

here it is in direct light , the shimmer is almost holographic . I was excited to try it out on eyes .

It’s pretty hard to photograph too. this is a finger swatch on my arm with no primer. It does need that sticky primer base though if you want to use it as a body shimmer or on your shoulders. Which you could definitely do with this shimmer/topper .

in super direct light it just looks subtle. i guess it depends on how heavy handed you are with highlighters in general, the other buttermelt highlighters were more frosty finish , this one if definitely more of a glittery topper, with a sheer color. I did notice at least on my face and finger that I was able to get a nice pink reflection with the sparkles but they sadly didn’t show up on my camera .

To swatch I used my finger in the corner of the highlight, I was worried about messing up the pattern. I know it’s a dumb thing to worry about since the product will eventually be used quite a bit , but it’s just so nice looking. Also the texture is very soft , and while it’s easy to pick up with your finger , you could possibly get hard pan that way. I did have success though when using a lightled misted fan brush , and finally a sculting brush ( I wanted to get a lot of highlighter for the last part of my review.

Also here’s a better swatch , it captures the pink shimmer a bit better , and was taken in terrible lighting lol. I really packed on the hand . It’s really pretty honestly even if it’s not a full purple/lilac highlighter.

here’s a test in sort of bad lighting on my bare lids. It was lighter in the day , so i didn’t have any primer or mascara . It did stay on for a feww hours before I removed it. I liked it , it was really nice and subtle. Obviously you’ll get better results if you use a tacky primer. Oh and before I forget , this product is lightly scented , a bit like mango or some other tropical fruit. But I think it’s mango as it’s made with mango butter along with shea and almond butter . Alrighty let’s try it all over my eyes and face.

This was a quick eye look , using a bit of nyx glitter primer , Juvia’s Place violets and the liner is from the Nubian Royal palette . the shimmer is all No 1 Butta , on my lids and brow bones .

I used a flat brush to apply the highlight , it actually looks really prety over the darker purple. So maybe next time I’ll try that out.

I used it one cheeks with a fan brush ! I tried getting better pictures.

Also I redid my hair with the same Iroiro Emerald Green and it came out darker ! I was so happy .

a quick video too !

It was so really subtle even though I had shimmer everywhere . I think it was more noticeable on my eyes .

It’s nice but I wanted more . Let’s go wider brush . Obviously fan brush is great when you want more subtle natural highlights.  But I need to shine !

Yup I did it !

That is super intense ! I used the same brush to put some on my chest and shoulders but i’m not quite sure it really shows in the pictures. But if you wanted something for Festival season , or if you just want to sparkle in general , this is a really cool product.

I definitely need to go back and grab the green too!

Overall this is a really fun highlighter, it can be subtle and the shimmer is a bit more chunky than normal highlighters , and also less opaque  than the other buttermelt highlighters , but I still really liked this one . In Ulta I tested out a frosty pink and the green and both were really nice one swipe formulas , this one is more subtle but you still get a really nice shimmer and you can build it up to be way more noticeable, plus it works really well on the eyes too. I think these highlighters are really cute and one of Nyx’s better products.  I will be testing a Wet n Wild Chameleon Chrome highlighter that’s supposed to be a more blue/purple , so we’ll see how that looks . Oh and Iforgot to test this with one of my purple or pink blushes , I may just have to post more . Well let me know what you think and if you have tried any of the other buttermelt highlights or the blushes ? Which ones are you favorite?
