Givenchy le rouge interdit cream velvet lipstick In #27 rouge infusé review

A nice surprise arrived ! Givenchy sent out their new Rouge Interdit cream velvet lipstick along with a sample of L’interdit Rouge Ultime. I’ll post a separate review for the fragrance, but for now let’s check out the lipstick .

I had no idea which color I was getting , but still excited .

And the reveal ! A nice dusty brick red ! The tube is glass with a faux leather like top .

And the top has the Givenchy logo .

Now for the formula :

It’s a creamy almost mousse like consistency. On the lips it’s definitely a matte finish , but not overly drying . It can transfer when you drink so be mindful of that , but it had good staying power . I liked it better diffused as I thought the softer look was nice . It kind of reminded me of the Korean powder style lip stains or the Nyx Powder Puff lippie . Also before I forget this lipstick has a floral perfume scent , that while not terrible might be a deterrent to some that are sensitive fragrances.

and here’s the swatch smudged out . This is what initially gave me the idea how to wear it first .

I tried to just dot on the lips with the lip brush and smudges it with my fingers. I did go back and apply a bit more towards the middle of the lips , as I wanted the center to be darker.

Now for the full face pictures, I’ve been trying to fade my hair to a pastel blue shade but the blue faded near my roots and their left a bit lilac. Well this clashes with the lipstick pretty harshly , So my apologies . I tried wearing a hat but still didn’t like the way it looked.  And while the brick red shade isn’t bad , it just isn’t one that I would wear, especially with my hair. But I’m sure this color would work well for others .

I really liked the softer red look , and I think when I wear this , it’ll probably be like this and possibly mixed with another color . I have a nice blue that I like mixing with some of my reds to make a greige shade . So I’ll be trying that out in another look . Also this color reminds me a lot of Bite Lipstick’s Chai color . I really do miss the old Bite formula , so sad that it’s gone . And you know what , never mind I looked online and Chai was more brown toned . But still something about this color reminds me of Bite. 
And now let’s try it out as it’s intended to be worn . I did a couple of swipes to get some nice coverage . 

And while it is a matte finish , it does have a nice shine to it . Or maybe that’s just my lights . And I do actually like the formula just not this color as it’s tricky for me to wear . 

It’s not bad , definitely a nice brick red shade . Or Dusk pink red as it’s described on Sephora’s website.

So pretty cool formula , and I do wish there were more shades in this line , but I would consider maybe one of the nudes .I don’t wear too many luxury brands , but this  was pretty comfortable to wear for a liquid matte shade . I still think this formula looks better smudged out . Let me know what you think and what are some of your favorite lipstick formula’s .
